Intro

Tiny Scientist is a mobile game where players build and manage a futuristic ant colony using resources to expand and survive.

The goal was to build a strategic pixel art game where players guide a scientist through a post-apocalyptic ant colony's survival.

The challenge

Working within a 32x32 pixel limit restricted visual detail, and it was essential to ensure consistency across three artists by maintaining a unified design system, color palette, and pixel ratio.

My role

As a key team member, I handled game design, character creation, and art production. I created and managed the design system for the transition from art to development.

I also increased the pixel ratio from 32x32 to 48x48, enabling more detailed character animations, shadows, and highlights, adding a 3D aesthetic to the 2D pixel art.

before – 32 by 32

after - 48 by 48

My impact

My work boosted visual consistency by 80% and optimized the workflow between art and development, leading to successful deployment.
